Electrical Maintenance

Electrical maintenance work encompasses the tasks involved in keeping electrical systems and equipment functioning properly. This includes inspecting, testing, repairing, and replacing components to prevent failures and ensure safety. Maintenance can be preventive (scheduled to prevent issues), predictive (using data to anticipate problems), corrective (fixing existing issues), or emergency (responding to urgent breakdowns).

Electrical house wiring

House electrical wiring is the planned installation of cables, switches, sockets, and protective devices to safely distribute power throughout your home. It involves dividing electrical loads into specific circuits (like lighting and heavy-duty power) and directing them through a central distribution board.

A safe residential wiring system relies on several core components:

Conduits: Protective PVC pipes or metal tubing installed inside the walls to safely house and route the wires.

Wires & Cables: Sized based on the electrical load (e.g., thicker cables for heavy appliances like geysers, thinner wires for lights).

Consumer Unit (Distribution Board): The central control hub where incoming power connects to safety breakers.

MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker): Protects specific circuits from overloads and short circuits by automatically cutting the power if a fault occurs.

RCCB / GFCI (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Detects current leakage and prevents electric shocks.

Earthing System: A vital safety connection that redirects fault currents safely into the ground, protecting both appliances and people.

1. Pre-Installation PlanningBefore buying equipment, outline your security needs:
  • Identify key areas: Entrances, driveways, cash registers, or blind spots.[
  • Choose the right system:

    • Wired (DVR/NVR): Provides highly stable video and is ideal for long-term security.
    • Wireless (Wi-Fi): Easier to install with minimal drilling, great for rentals.
  • Understand the law: In areas like India, ensure you do not violate privacy laws by filming into a neighbor's private space, and verbally notify visitors or workers of the cameras.
